BOOK WEEK 2020

Hello Everyone,

I hope you enjoyed Book Week as much as I did!

It has really inspired me to Read!

This is certainly one of the most exciting times, celebrating book week with my students. As a grade 5C Class we shared our favourite books and spoke about the interesting characters, settings and plots.

Mrs. Sirin 5C

This is my favourite book. It's called The Republic Of Birds, and it's written by Jessica Millers. This is my favourite book because it is unique, it is a book like no other. It has a very unusual story line that makes it so interesting! It is so fun to read! Sometimes, I can't even put down the book! I strongly recommend it for children who are eager for adventure.

Remote learning

In remote learning it hard to do tasks and tests but we tried our best to do them. In term 2 it difficult because of COVID-19 I wasn’t expecting to go in remote learning straight away I was expecting a normal year and a fun one but I was wrong it was fun because we had funny days together as a class and thanks to my teacher we enjoy coming to the classroom. We did many things like crazy hair day were to class with crazy hair footy day when you come with your favorite footy team and book week where you share or recommend others what is the book about. I like remote learning because I can spend more time with my family.

Iftikar Ahmad 5C

I kind of like remote learning and kind of don’t. There is pros and cons of remote learning. The pros are that I get to spend more time with my family, and is sort of a fun experience (kind of...) and it’s really different! The cons are that you don’t socialise with anyone pretty much, you get way less work then your meant to (I think we should have MORE work!), I get bored really easily because I finish my work in just an hour or two so I don’t know what to do the rest of the day. I will study for tests but that’s pretty much in the time when I’m finished my work. I’m tired, angry, frustrated of this quarantine. This online school isn’t very fun (my opinion) and I would much rather go to school, although it was a kind of a fun experience doing online school, but we have been doing it from term 2 to term 3!

Remote learning and my experience

Hi my name is Tasneem and my experience during remote learning was quite hard. You see when remote learning started me and my family weren’t completely ready, we did not have enough devices because there are 4 children in my family and all of them needed a device. Lucky for us there were some iPads left at school so we borrowed two, one for my brother and I. After that it was smooth sailing for me and my family until we went back to school, basically when we got back to school for two weeks we gave the iPads back and had fun at school. As everyone knows the second wave approached us and just like that we were back in lockdown. It was not a big worry for us because we had everything we needed but I was sad, but it is to keep us safe so remember we are all in this together.

Hello, I am Ghaniyah from 5C, and today I would like to apprise you about remote learning. I know that many students from around the world including me are going through remote learning, but that does not mean that we should get upset or angry. At first, I really did not like remote learning and wanted it to be over as soon as possible. But then I knew that I had to accept it because of the health situation in Australia.

I started to think positive about it. Every weekday of school, I would have to be awake by 6:30, otherwise, I would be late and miss my school bus because my school is far away, but I thought about it positively. I know that now; I do not have to wake up so early. Another thing was that I would miss my friends, but we exchanged numbers! So, I can talk to them anytime I wanted! Even though we are going through a tough time, it will be over soon, and that we should spend it happily. Just keep that in mind.

Grade 6

Throughout Term 3 the grade 6’s have been learning about natural disasters and their impact on people and environments. As part of Science Week, students were also asked to make a volcano as an experiment at home without making too much of a mess. We had some very cool and disastrous volcanoes.

We have also been learning about electricity and how it works. This has been quite relatable to their daily lives as they now depend on electricity to be able to do most things and even take part in school activities as we are remote learning. Students were also challenged to try and avoid using electricity for a whole day on the weekend.

Here are some examples of student’s various science experiments.

ART

Visual Arts – Newsletter

Students have been doing exceptionally well with Visual Art classes over remote learning! We love receiving their art work on myEd to see the creativity they get up to. We have ensured that the chosen activities are easy to complete at home with minimal art materials.

Here are some lovely images from years F/1/2 who have done some aboriginal dot paintings/drawings and paper sculptures.

We cannot wait to see what everyone’s decorated spoons will look like to add to our Sirius Spoonville! Make sure you don’t forget to bring it back and plant it in our Sirius Spoonville at Dallas Campus.
